100% polyester shower curtains washing instructions

Machinery: Washer Extractor. Continuous Batch Washers (Tunnel Washers) are not recommended.

Loading: Load factor = 30 litres of the cage capacity per kg of dry curtains for washer extractors.

Wash Process – Washer Extractor:

  • Recommended Detergent Quantity: Quantity as recommended by the detergent manufacturer for the level of soiling present.
  • Main Wash: Low dip level at 50°C for 8 minutes. *Emulsifier at maximum dosage as recommended by the detergent supplier will help remove any spa oils, prevent redeposition of removed oils/greases and help maintain a good whiteness.
  • Cool Down: Cool at 4°C per minute to 52°C or below. This will prevent excessive “thermal shock” creasing which gives a “cracked ice” surface appearance.
  • Drain
  • Rinse 1: High dip level for 3 minutes. Cold.
  • Drain
  • Rinse 2: High dip level for 3 minutes. Cold.
  • Drain and Final Extract: Spin for 4 minutes at medium speed

Rewash Process (if stains are still present):

The rewash process requires extra/additional chemicals to give the best chance of removing any residual stains.

Wash according to the above process, increasing the detergent and emulsifier quantity. A different *emulsifier type may be required to remove oily stains. If oily stains cannot be removed, the best course of action is to consult the detergent supplier who will be able to recommend the appropriate product.

Drying:

  • Tumble dry on the synthetic setting. Do not use excessive heat as this may cause the polyester to melt giving a harsh almost solid feel in localised areas.
  • Alternatively, remove from the washing machine and hang to air dry. This method may not fully remove all the creases.

*Emulsifiers are used to help remove oils and greases. Emulsifiers typically fall into different categories depending on the type of oil/grease to be removed:

  • Spa Oil
  • Kitchen Fats/Oils
  • Engineers Oil/Grease and Shoe Polish

It is essential that the correct emulsifier type is used as not all emulsifiers will remove the full range of oils/greases. The appropriate product to use is best discussed with your detergent supplier.
